How to Lose Weight for Kids

This post is for the parents. Take it from a dude that loves kids and is just waiting for the right time to have a bunch of his own…teach your kids about what it means to eat healthy. That means don’t feed them a plate of potatoes. Yes, i know it’s crazy tough to get kids to eat their vegetables and salads are the devil. But nothing can stop you from telling them about what is healthy and what is not. Before each meal remind them about how cool vegetables are and play them up.

In teaching your kids you might learn new things. Scientists are finding out new benefits on the daily and learning something new is always fun and adventurous.  Try secretly putting your kids on a weight loss plan. I mean it sounds a little devilish but what they don’t know won’t hurt them, besides this is to help them.

Teaching and having an understanding as adults is equally important and thankfully it is never to late to learn. Having a healthy body, helps boosts your mental well being and is shown to improve moods. It also significantly decreases the chances of many diseases such as:

– diabetes

– dementia

– dying early!

Out of 317 million Americans something like 45 million belong to a gym or exercise on their own, according to the book out by New York Times Phys Ed columnist Gretchen Reynolds. The book titled, “The First 20 Minutes” debunks truths and myths about what it means to be healthy.

Pick up her book and share it with your kids and neighbors. Help yourself and your community.

I can’t wait to get out there and run, until I can I just walk and people watch in the malls. See ya’ll around.

“The Island Where People Forget to Die”

A little bit about where this man is:

Icaria, also spelled Ikaria (Greek: Ικαρία), is a Greek island in the Aegean Sea, 10 nautical miles (19 km) southwest of Samos. It derived its name from Icarus, the son of Daedalus in Greek mythology, who fell into the sea nearby.

Microhard to Microsoft

Microsoft Loses Six Billion

This title caught my eye. I mean who doesn’t want to read about Microsoft failing. Horribly. What really caught my eye was this paragraph comparing traffic to a toll road.

Search in theory works something like a toll road.  You pay a certain amount to route traffic to you — expenses which range from the cost of server farms to the cost of advertising to build customer awareness of your brand name.  You’re repaid when people visit your search homepage and click on ads — text or graphics — that are displayed amongst the search results.  Those clicks are compensated on a unit basis by advertising clients either directly (as in Microsoft’s case) or through third parties.

It’s a great way to explain how internet traffic works and I now know how torrent sites makes some of their money (and its so clever, I tip my hat to you internet).

How to watch a movie.

I hate trailers, plot summaries and anything telling me about the movie I’m about to watch. I feel like the more knowledge about a movie you have then the worse it gets.

The best way to watch a movie is by going to a film festival and luckily there is the

If you love Asian Films or like anything Asian, anything at all I give a firm suggestion to check this festival out!

Few quick points to know:

  • It started June 29th and is on till July 15th (so it can hold you over till dark knight rises, almost)
  • On a whole most of the films start at 1pm
  • Films play all day up until and after midnight on some occassions
  • There are many guest speakers including Donnie Yen (“IP Man”, “Hero”, “Blade II”, “Legend of the First: Return of Chen Zhen”)
  • Two main films theyre promoting: Guns N’Roses and Doomsday Book
  • Tickets: Students(valid ID): $9.00// Adults: 13.00 (got to love student discounts)
  • To purchase tickets (as of now) you have to select the specific film in the” films” list drop down menu
  • Theater Info: It’s The Walter Reade Theater (June 29th ~ July 12th) and Japan Society (July 12th ~ July 15th)

Try not watching trailers and only reading the topic sentence to pick films to watch. It’s such a better experience than going in knowing basically everything the film has to offer. Trailers should be new content exclusive to the watcher.

Keep an open mind too.

Another festival to check out: NYFF50 (September 28th ~ October 15th)

What Else Can You Do With Your Cell Phone?

There was a recent article in The Atlantic called, “The Cigarette of the Century” where it brings up an interesting point.

What are we supposed to do with our hands now?

With cigarettes banned nearly everyplace human beings are known to gather we need something to fill the void of awkwardness that is left.  We reach to our pockets for our cell phones when we become weak and bored with reality. This is leading us to being more disconnected with the people around us. Instead, embrace the awkwardness! Interact with strangers and make new friends.

Use it as an ice breaker conversations, too. haha.

Do what you love / Love what you do

What a great life motto but it means nothing if you do not have a plan to make it succeed.

Twelve Steps to Success.

  1. Make a Plan
  2. Edit Plan
  3. Edit Plan
  4. Edit Plan
  5. Edit Plan
  6. Edit Plan
  7. Edit Plan
  8. Edit Plan
  9. Edit Plan
  10. Edit Plan
  11. Edit Plan
  12. Succeed

Of Course, plans vary from person to person but as long as you’re always thinking of a plan to succeed and working on it succeeding you have no chance of failure.

Coal doesn’t become a diamond overnight. Presidents aren’t born, they’re made. Everything takes time patience and commitment to succeed. Remember the Tortoise won, not the hare.
